Maria Sumareva and Andrew Rosenblum Piano Duo

Pianists Maria Sumareva and Andrew Rosenblum both have dynamic careers as solo pianists, soloists with orchestra, and collaborative pianists, performing internationally at major concert halls and festivals. They began performing together in 2019, and in 2020 made the premiere recording of Lori Laitman’s work Are Women People? with Fourth Coast Ensemble, having also performed the work on Fourth Coast Ensemble’s American Woman program, celebrating the 100th anniversary of women’s right to vote in the United States. Their 2021-22 season will include a recital program of 20th and 21st century piano duos on the Athanaeum Music and Arts Library’s Chamber Music Series in La Jolla, CA. They are thrilled to be co-commissioners of Juan Pablo Contreras’s Mariachitlán, and to add this work to their repertoire of piano duos by contemporary composers. Their musical interests range from Renaissance to newly composed works, and they both serve on the board of Kaleidoscope MusArt, an organization that explores links between new, rarely-heard, and well known works while prominently featuring emerging artists and living composers.
